I focus on teaching the fundamentals—the building blocks of basketball—because that's how the game is really played. No over-the-top, flashy moves—just practical, repeatable skills that work in real game situations.
All skill levels are welcome! Whether you're a beginner or more advanced, you're guaranteed to have fun, learn a lot, and see real improvement.
About Me
Hi! I’m Coach Erik, and I’ve been passionate about basketball since I was five years old—ever since I watched Space Jam for the first time. From that moment on, I knew basketball would be a big part of my life.
I’ve played at the highest competitive levels, including high school basketball at Archbishop Mitty, AAU, and Asian leagues. From my playing career, I have made life-long friendships and learned so many life lessons.
But I believe in more than just being a great athlete—I believe in being well-rounded. I’m also a working professional in the tech industry as an Analytics Engineer, with a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering from Cal Poly SLO and a Master’s in Business Analytics from Santa Clara University. https://www.linkedin.com/in/erik-chu/
Basketball has given me so much throughout my life—lessons, friendships, discipline, and joy. My goal is to pass that on to my students and help them experience all the amazing things this game has to offer, both on and off the court.
Training Locations
I coach in the Sunnyvale/Cupertino/Santa Clara area at local parks and schools (Creekside Park, Hyde Elementary, Ortega Park, etc)
I also have access to Bay Club Santa Clara if you have membership there
